Resumo

Teenage pregnancy is a public health issue, associated with elements such as early sexual debut and lack of attention to pregnancy prevention. The objective of this work was to understand the specific risks and challenges that teenage pregnancy presents for the physical, mental and social health of adolescents, considering different socioeconomic and cultural contexts and to analyze the role of nursing in the health care of pregnant teenagers, identifying the best practices and the main challenges faced by professionals. This is a research with a descriptive approach, integrative, qualitative review, with a retrospective design, of studies published between 2021 and 2023. A search was carried out in the VHL (Virtual Health Library), SCIELO (Scientific Electronic Library Online), and an academic search engine (Google Scholar). The data were collected from January to April 2024. There were 50 studies, 39 responded to the work proposal and only 13 were used for discussion, the others were excluded for not meeting the proposal of the chosen topic. It identified that the role of nurses is to detect potential dangers for young adolescents, provide support for pregnant women and their families, and implement effective strategies to prevent sexually transmitted diseases and promote the use of contraceptive methods. In this way, this study can collaborate with the improvement of care for pregnant teenagers by identifying the main bio-psycho-social risks and challenges faced by pregnant teenagers and directing the best assistance from nursing.
